Caroline Fritch
Program Director & Lead Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor

Caroline is an established Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) and Program Director with over 15 years’ experience in program development, management, certification, and accreditation. Her accomplishments throughout her career include thousands of hours of safe lessons, and responsibility for establishing and maintaining Premiere Accreditation status through PATH. She was instrumental in creating and implementing summer camps for special needs riders, after school programs for at-risk youth, organizing special needs horse shows, and being involved in the Special Olympics as an Equine Coach.  Horses and helping people are her passions and we welcome her to The Kvamme Center.  Caroline and her husband recently relocated to California from South Carolina.  Caroline can be reached at

Shannon Swanson
Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor in Training

Shannon Swanson began volunteering at The Kvamme Center in September 2019, after watching the positive impact the horses had on her own son, Ben. She is currently on the path to becoming a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, through PATH International. Her love of horses and desire to empower the special needs community has brought her to this special journey of horses and healing at The Kvamme Center. 

Shannon has worked in special education for the last 7 years as a behavioral technician. She has studied FloorTime, ABA, and is certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Positive Discipline. 

In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, painting, talking to her plants, hiking and spending time with her two teenage sons, and husband. She can also be found playing with her favorite horse at the barn, Stormy.  Shannon can be reached at

Jo Romaniello, MS
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Jo supports The Kvamme Center team, volunteering clinical and organizational support to staff and volunteers on an as needed basis.  

Jo has gathered over 30 years of experience as a clinical counselor/consultant, supervisor, facilitator/trainer and educator.  She works in private practice, educational, non-profit organizational settings.  Jo is a volunteer member of the Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces, where she serves as a resiliency program trainer and facilitator in support of military families and veterans.   Jo engages in a variety of artistic activities, such as knitting, jewelry making, gardening and other creative projects.  And she loves to cook!  She and her husband share music as members of their church worship team, as well as love of travel and photography. They also enjoy the unconditional love of two cats and a Chihuahua named Meshach. Jo can be reached at
